After the Chin family’s success, a new chapter has begun in the collaboration between Alessi and the National Palace Museum of Taiwan. The Far East’s languages and symbols, filtered through western eyes, trace the outline of new contexts for language and image. A world made flat by the Internet, and new commercial ventures made possible by globalisation, have given birth to cultural cross-overs and opened new horizons. Western culture needs to be refreshed after the end of minimalism. We crave new cultural cross-overs and need to reconsider our relationship with the past, to rediscover decoration as an element of communication.
